My friend Regis,I will have a hard time viewing this profile. (I probably will anyway just because you did it.)
I saw myself mainly as an anti-war activist (especially for Vietnam) from 1961 (shortly after getting discharged from the USAF after four years) to May 1, 1975 when the Vietnamese people finally kicked the Yankees out of their country (countries). That day I played a song someone had given me years before, which I wouldn't hear becaue it was called "The War Is Over", and cried much of that day.
But then, as you write, I realized the Vietnamese didn't want to blame the "Americans", and they even aligned with the USA in foreign policy. They seem to hate the Chinese (given that they have been at odds with one another for perhaps a thousand years.) After all these years Brics has existed they just joined as a partner.
I can't understand, or accept, that the Vietnam governments deal with the US governments as if they were friends. I just can't feel it is morally right to embrace the country that so brutally murdered more than 3 million of its people. Had that government (USA) stopped killing people just to take over their riches and make them colonies then I could understand and accept that decision to embrace. But it is simply wrong "to accompany" a country has done and continues to do so much violence for riches, and damn the consequences.
To me, it is the same with Obama. Just because he is black does not make him an object for the Peace Prize or for any support. He took on Bush's two wars and made five of his own just to show the white man that he was "man enough".

Thank you so much for this powerful discussion, so much to learn about the truth.
Will the US ever learn from its mistakes and crimes against humanity??
