Another excellent analysis of our predicament, Maria and Regis. As you point out, perspective is important when looking at any situation. I tend to view what is happening in the world through the ecological lens, seeing one dominant, highly destructive species totally devastating the natural resources of the biosphere. Disconnect from the creative, sustaining natural energies leads to the pursuit of activities that cause further disharmony and dysfunction. Ideologies and systems forced on us by the economic superstructure only lead to continued distraction, exploitation and deception. The biosphere as a whole is objectified and commodified, which obscures and denies its real purpose as the substrate of life on this planet. Such arrogance! Those who seek to control life through technology and war exist in the realm of delusional psychopathologies, and are addicted to degenerated concepts, attitudes and behaviors. They poison the minds and bodies of the people and cause seemingly endless suffering. Whether we look at it as a battle of good vs evil, the struggle for peace and freedom, or establishing natural equilibrium, it seems to come down to individual responsibility of each of us to understand our precarious predicament, and finding the courage to live in a way that enables life-sustaining qualities to prevail. From barbarism to meritocracy. NO MORE WAR!!

Regis, fantastic that you have a relationship with Maria and could bring her on. I am in Maria's camp relative to doing something. You despair that we are two days away from a nuclear event, but Maria calls for a revolutionary movement. Quite the contrast. I think people want democratic destiny and would rally if given a coherent call. If we don't rally we are doomed, as you say, maybe to actual extinction, but I think it is more likely we / civilization degrades to techno-totalitarianism, into a technocratic dystopia, where humanity is coopted by tech / machine.
