Je Suis Russia - A Shot Video

First Impressions After My Return From Russia in 2016

I made this short video upon my return to the USA from Russia in 2016. In order to finish my documentary, Thirty Seconds to Russia, I had to go to Russia to find the Truth for myself. And, were my eyes opened…and my heart.

My hosts in Moscow were five beautiful people… from the Communist Party. What a beautiful surprise. Dreaded Commies! I had seen many of Europe’s capitals, Tokyo, and Seoul, but none could compare with Moscow.

Of course, I had to go to St. Petersburg, the former Leningrad, because of its historic and cultural significance. Five days was not enough. I’ve since returned many times…and that’s still not enough.

Finally, I went to Crimea to find out the Truth about its return to Russia. Little did I know that I would return to live in Yalta 3 years later.

This little film is part travelogue, combined with interviews asking everyday Russians many questions my American friends wanted answered.

It was on this trip that I discovered Russia was not my enemy. They are just like us in so many ways. May your eyes be opened as mine were, and may you fall in love with this amazing country and its people, and may you also work for peace and reconciliation between our two countries.
