We are living in the most advanced information and propaganda war in human history. It is so overwhelming and confusing that many people I know are desperate, disillusioned, and depressed. They are not able to sleep at night and spend their days in pain and worry.
Since Donald Trump took office barely a month ago heads are spinning. He has signed dozens of executive orders and turned Elon Musk loose on the deep state and the bureaucracy. This had MAGA people ecstatic and his critics in hysteria.
Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine on day one. He was going to make a “deal” with Putin. Now we are one month past day one and still no deal in sight. The thing is, Putin is winning big time in Ukraine and doesn’t need a deal, for he will dictate the terms of total surrender.
Then there were the phone calls to Putin and Lavrov by Trump and Rubio that resulted in the highly anticipated meeting in Riyadh. Expectations were overly optimistic.
The only positive things that came out of that meeting were the ground work that was laid for a future Summit between Trump and Putin, and the commitment to reopen embassies and consulates in both countries, as well as the full return of diplomatic staffs.
That was reason enough for hope as humanity took a giant leap backwards from the brink of nuclear annihilation. At least, after the past four years, diplomatic relations were restored. The USA and Russia were talking to each other again.
Meanwhile, VP JD Vance was giving the EU a well deserved smackdown in Munich, but JD never once mentioned how the US was guilty of everything he accused the Europeans of, such as censorship and the persecution of journalists and protesters condemning the US openly supporting and sponsoring the genocide of Palestinians.
Then there was the Firefight with Zelinsky that turned ugly with veiled threats that he should flee to France immediately. Trump was furious that Zelinsky wouldn’t sign a deal giving the US access to $500 Billion in Ukraine’s rare earth minerals.
While Trump expressed his desire to be remembered as the “Peace President,” there was the troubling reality of Trump doubling down on his support for Bibi and the Israeli genocide of the Palestinians, and his repeated claims to annex Gaza and turn it into a seaside Mediterranean mega project while relocating millions of Palestinians.
I have to admit, I am somewhat optimistic, however I fear Trump’s Peace deal could be a Trojan Horse. My hope is that Putin and his inner circle have wizened up after the betrayals of Minsk I, II, and Istanbul. Heck, the big betrayal, Putin’s “root causes” of the conflict, go back at least to the “not one inch” promise by James Baker to Mikhail Gorbachev in 1990 that was immediately broken by Bill Clinton. NATO swiftly moved eastward all the way to Russia’s immediate frontier.
As if there aren’t enough reasons not to trust the US, during Putin’s years in power the US unilaterally pulled out of every nuclear treaty with Russia, and continues to rehearse a first strike nuclear attack on Russia with annual, massive, war games all around Russia.
Everyone in the Biden administration openly admitted America’s goal was the strategic defeat of Russia. It is tempting to believe that Trump has rejected this objective with his “peace” overtures to Putin. To this, I urge a strong dose of caution and suspicion.
For any measure of trust to be restored, Russia will demand action. Even then, with America’s propensity for breaking promises and discarding treaties, Putin has to know there are no guarantees. Brute force, strength, and power will determine Russia’s future security.
Back to the war in Ukraine which is and has been a direct war between the USA and Russia using proxies in NATO and Ukraine. Let’s be real and call it what it is!
All of the reports from the Russian side, including sources inside Ukraine, tell of the massive casualties and loss of equipment by the Ukraine military. Russians have encircled Kursk with a cauldron leaving Ukraine with the only options of surrender or death.
Reliable daily posts from Don Hank have been reporting massive combined land, air and sea missile attacks all over Ukraine, including Odessa, Poltava, and Kiev. It will not be long before Russia has taken all of Ukraine, and I believe it must.
Both sides will have paid an enormous price with Ukraine losing over 1 million killed and wounded including a destroyed and failed state. Russia too has lost untold thousands of dead and wounded in this war to defend the Motherland.
Deal? There will be no deal except that which Russia graciously allows Trump to save some face somehow. All Trump has to do is completely distance himself from Sleepy Joe Biden’s war by cutting off all aid to Ukraine, getting rid of Zelinsky, and pressuring the EU and NATO to do the same. He can then walk away and claim he ended the war as promised.
Today, all across Russia, the Day of the Defender is being celebrated. Russians are confident in victory and never forget all those who have defended the Motherland.
Think this video is just Russian propaganda? I don’t. It’s the same pride and confidence you see every May 9th at the annual military parade in Red Square.
It’s the same pride and respect I saw in two Marches of the Immortal Regiment with over 1 Million Russians.
I visited a friend recently in a hospital here in Yalta. Two of the men in a four-man room were soldiers who were recovering from injuries. One of them showed me shrapnel wounds in his stomach and right leg. He couldn’t wait to rehab and return to the front. The other was in traction from a severely fractured leg. Both explained how Russia was overwhelming the “enemy,” and that total victory was at hand.
They said morale was high and both said they voluntarily joined to “protect the Motherland.”
Russia may have lost the most advanced information and propaganda war in human history, but let us not forget that Russia emerged victorious against Napoleon and Hitler, and they will not lose this war with the USA and the combined West.
We can only hope that Trump is a realist and understands that this is not a war that he can afford to fight. No one will hang this around his neck like Joe Biden’s exodus from Afghanistan, and Nixon’s war with Vietnam. Peace with Russia just might be at hand.
