This is another in the series using media never before published from my two trips to Russia with the Center For Citizen Initiatives in 2018 and 2019. Our visit to the town of Torzhok took place during the 2019 CCI trip to Russia.
On these two trips, I traveled with Sharon Tennison, the founder and director of CCI, and her translator for 35 years, Volodya Shestakov from St. Petersburg. My job was to document the two citizen diplomacy trips to Russia.
Torzhok is a town in the Tver Oblast, located on the Tvertsa River about a hour and a half from Moscow, and a ten hour overnight train from St. Petersburg. It has a population of approximately 40,000 people.
